What Do You Know About SEO?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is incredibly important for individuals looking to make a digital impression. This is because when you optimize web pages — including blog posts like this one — you’re making your website more visible to people who are searching for keywords associated with your content in places like Google.

The most important part of using SEO is to get attention and attract prospective and existing audiences to you… BUT SEO is just the first step of the process.

While SEO helps to generate exposure around your content, keeping an audience engaged is the most important factor in developing a digital footprint. Social experts and even the average Instagram user know that the size of the audience on social media does not necessarily matter if no one is paying attention.

Experienced social media marketers know though fan growth doesn’t matter if your audience isn’t consuming your content. Let’s say you have 80,000 fans. If you post something and it gets zero engagement, your followers have zero value. Joe Escobedo – Forbes, How To Sell The Importance Of Engagement Over Fan Growth On Social Media

The key to being successful on socials is not your follower, but instead the social media engagement! Depending on your platform and your goals, there are different ways to measure engagement such as clicks, likes, shares, comments, replies, etc… Jenn Davi explains in her SEO optimized blog, “Why engagement is more important than follower count” few ways to think about generating engagement beyond your follower count:

  • The quality of your followers –You want to be followed by people who are interested in your posts, engaged in the community you’re trying to reach, and share compelling content of their own.

  • The reach of your audience – Similarly, the reach of your audience is more important than how many people comprise that audience.

  • The content of your posts – Higher quality content – anything that adds value to a conversation through relevance, interest, or novelty – will perform better than low-quality content.

  • The timing of your posts – When you post new content can have a big impact on how it’s received. Some are more active during the business day, like Twitter, but others see more action in the evenings, like Instagram.
